Student Summer Internship
KPAI Student summer Internship Program (KSIP) Guideline
1. Objective:
a) KPAI Student Summer Internship Program will support the main purposes of the KPAI, as outlined in the KPAI Articles, pursuant to the provisions
of the Michigan Nonprofit Corporations Act, Act 162, Public Acts of 1982.
b) It is intended to nurture potential future leaders by providing support to students in the Korean-American Community for career development.
c) KPAI Student Summer Internship Program will be operated based on the announcement and posting system through the KPAI networking to
the Korean-American community.
d) This program will be run through corporate, internal, and private firm position availabilities.
2. Position Award:
The Student Summer Internship recipients will be determined by the parties who offered the positions.
3. Application Process:
a) The committee collects and reviews the positions acknowledged/offered.
b) The KPAI will list the positions on the KPAI web site and send the announcement through the KPAI and Korean-American community networking. (The web site address is listed below.)
c) The students apply to the positions, which listed on the KPAI website, directly to the companies/firms.
d) The Applicants Acknowledgement Form (AAF)is listed as an attachment to the KSIP website. The AAF can be used as the KPAI reference/recommendation.
e) The Interview process for the selected candidate may be followed by the companies/firms who offer the position.
4.Eligibility Requirements:
The candidate should meet the following requirements
a) A college or graduate student. High school students may be eligible depends on the position.
b) Must agree with the waiver form listed in Section 8.
5. Selection Process:
a) Selection process is strictly upon the companies and firms who provide the position.
b) AAF may be used as the KPAI reference/recommendation. Applicants are encouraged to print the AAF and attach it with a resume as a KPAI reference.
c) The Interview process for the selected candidate may be followed by the companies/firms who offer the position.
d) The companies or firms are going to communicate to the candidate directly for the result of the selection.
e) Companies/firms make the selection of the internship student and determine the proposed starting date between the student and the company/firm.
f) The position could be paid or non-paid depending on the company/firm that offers the internship.
6. Required Documents:
All documents must be sent directly to companies/firms. All the positions are listed or linked in the KSIP website.

b) Resume (not available on the KPAI website, must prepare your own)
c) Other documents required by the companies/firms.
7. Student Summer Internship Committee Members
a) Committee will consist of a minimum of 3 members in two groups, not including the incumbent KPAI President. They are all volunteers without getting compensated and they include:
i.One (1) chairperson – Chairperson of KSP will automatically serve as KSIP chairperson.
ii.One (1) KSIPsecretary –
The KSIPSecretary will maintain the records of all documents, including a list of the internship companies/firms, and updating the web documents. The Secretary will also manage the timings of the community communication, posting, and KSIP program open/close date. iii.Minimum one (1) committee member(s).
iv.The incumbent KPAI President will automatically serve on the KSIP committee.
b)Qualification of the members: There is no restriction to be KSIP committee for any KPAI member.
c)Terms
i.The fiscal year of the KSIP committee is the same as that of the KPAI. That is, starting May until April 30 of the following year.
ii.The KSIP member will serve for two (2) years and they are allowed to serve multiple terms.
iii. In order to maintain continuity, members will be grouped into two groups with a minimum of two members in the group. (Group A and B)
iv.Each group will be replaced by new members on a rotation basis every year.
v.New members to replace the departing members will be nominated and elected by all committee members every year.
vi.Any vacancy caused by a member’s resignation, death, or other circumstances shall be filled as soon as possible.
vii.A new member filling the vacant position will serve the remaining term of the member leaving the committee.
8. Waiver Form:
This Waiver form is intended to define that the KPAI is not entitled to any legal or accidental issues during the internship period between the hiring company/firm and the student intern. By printing out the AAF form and applying it to the summer internship position through the KPAI web posting, the internship participant is automatically agreeing to the Waiver of Liability Form below. If the applicant is under 18 years old, the Parent or guardian must sign a written waiver form and send a hard copy to the KPAI KSIP officer.
WAIVER OF LIABILITY FORM
Name of the Activity: THE KPAI Student Summer Internship Program
I HEREBY ASSUME ALL OF THE RISKS OF PARTICIPATING IN THIS ACTIVITY, including by way of example and not limitation, any risks that may arise from negligence or carelessness on the part of the persons participating, from dangerous or defective equipment or property owned, maintained, or controlled by them, or because of their possible liability without fault.
I certify that I am physically fit, have sufficiently prepared or trained for participation in the activity, and have not been advised to not participate by a qualified medical professional. I certify that there are no health-related reasons or problems which preclude my participation in this activity.
In consideration of my application and permitting me to participate in this activity, I hereby take action for myself, my executors, administrators, heirs, next of kin, successors, and assigns as follows:
(A) I WAIVE, RELEASE, AND DISCHARGE from any and all liability, including but not limited to, liability arising from the negligence or fault of the entities, THE FOLLOWING ENTITIES OR PERSONS: The Association of Korean-American Automotive Professionals in the Automotive Industry (KPAI) and/or their directors, officers, members;
(B) I INDEMNIFY, HOLD HARMLESS, AND PROMISE NOT TO SUE the entities or persons mentioned in this paragraph from any and all liabilities or claims made as a result of participation in this activity, whether caused by the negligence of release or otherwise.
I acknowledge that the KPAI and their directors, officers, and members are not responsible for the errors, omissions, acts, or failures to act of any party or entity conducting a specific activity on behalf of the KPAI.
The accident waiver and release of liability shall be construed broadly to provide a release and waiver to the maximum extent permissible under applicable law.
I CERTIFY THAT I HAVE READ THIS DOCUMENT, AND I FULLY UNDERSTAND ITS CONTENT. I AM AWARE THAT THIS IS A RELEASE OF LIABILITY AND A CONTRACT AND BY SUBMITTING THE APPLICANT ACKNOWLEDGEMENT FORM, I AM AGREEING with IT OF MY OWN FREE WILL.
